Now here's a problem for you computer genii - loulo12 - 27-09-2010 17:04

I have a HP KG 0636 wireless keyboard. Worked fine for ages and then just suddenly stopped.

My computer, HP pavillion with Vistas, says it does not recognise the new hardware and tries to install the driver, then says there is a problem and stops.

Thing is, when I look into device manager it says there is no driver installed for this device, then I click the driver tab and it gives me the date of the driver, I click update driver and it will say the most up-to-date driver is installed. Have tried, roll back, uninstall etc.

Seems that windows is not reading the usb dongle where I assume the driver is.

Thing is, is it the dongle that has just burned out or is it a problem with the op. You can't find this driver anywhere on the internet.

Thanks.

Hi Just a few suggestions
1. have you Tried to Fix by restoring to a previous point By Pressing n holding F8 when Windows logo appears It will take you to a black screen scroll down to restore to last working point.

2. Unistall in safe mode Using same technigue above just choose safe mode

3. Try a different Usb port Might be a IRQ Conflict.

Hope either one the options Helps and Good luck.

ok Good luck

Just curious did you turn ur computer off before unplugging the usb ? If you didnt you then have to check for hadware changes and it will find the new device and install drivers

sounds like a error with the usb port tbh try different ports.

Tried all the different ports too. It just stopped working, never took it out.

is it plug and play or did you have to install it

Plug in and play. It came with the computer. I've been told the drivers are in the dongle.

Well I'm going to sit this one out for once to see how long it takes for somebody to come up with what I'd deem as a plausible answer to what the problem is Tongue

BTW haven't seen one yet but I have seen a little knowledge being a dangerous thing so far bladewave Rolleyes Bounce
