Video splitting software - A Spider Monkey - 09-01-2009 21:34

Can anybody recommend a good tool for splitting video. Got a Jennifer Keelings video I would like to upload. But it is too big (324mb) for rapidshare

MPEG Streamclip is the usual choice by most people of free program, but needs "quicktime alternative" installed. This is a problem if you need the real quicktime for other programs.
I use the free "ProjectX". It is a java program, works well in linux and windows.
Do a google search to find either program.

Cheers, giving projectX a go now.

The help file will point you to an online user guide.
The exported file is a .m2p file. You can just rename it to .mpg
It will work directly with .vob files on non encrypted dvd. You don't need to copy them to computer first.

If you just want to split the file into smaller pieces but are not interested at what point the actual split occurs, this free HJSplit program should do it.

see http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/#win32
Not tried it myself yet, but it looks ok.

Right, feel like a bit of a dumbass now as I've just realised I had HJSplit on my computer for ages. But only used it for joining files. You'd think the fact it has split in the title, and on my desktop was only two icons away from the file I want to split, would have helped the penny drop a wee bit quicker. But no, the boy wonder here did'nt notice that.

Using it now and it's just what I was looking for. Splitting the file made really simple.

Glad to have been able to help by mentioning HJSplit.Smile
