Scottish Referees Strike - mikedafc - 24-11-2010 14:38

Due to Celtic's selfish actions all Scottish Football League games will be postponed this weekend.

Is it fair to punish lower league clubs for what is a Celtic FC problem?

I thought that the league were going to bring in 'English' speaking officials from Europe.

So they must have cancelled the fixtures because they wouldn't understand the Scottish players.

I read somewhere that the Icelandic FA had agreed to provide referees for this weekend, but the referees said ''they wouldn't cross the picket line'', so looks like no football in Scotland this week!

Seriously though, I do think this whole thing has gone too far - think Lennon made his opinion very well known, and obviously Celtic fans are obviously very passionate but a minority seems to have spoilt it for the rest. However, what would happen to say a Neil Warnock if he'd made similar comments about a ref?

In answer to your question Mike, no, it's not fair to punish all clubs for this particular instance, but Scottish referees have had to put up with terrible abuse for years so maybe it's just a culmination of that?

Anyone see the irony in all this?, football supporters hate refs and the decisions they make and wish they werent allowed to ref another game, but the second the refs decided to strike the supporters wanted them back Wink
