Mainstream TV nudity vs babeshow nudity - Krill Liberator - 02-01-2011 00:42 Just in case this covers ground not specifially covered in another, extant, thread: We all hate the way we're treated like naughty schoolboys sneaking a collective gigglesome glance at an illicit porno mag sneaked into class behind teacher's back, right? We can't understand why nudity is so frowned-upon on the 900's, yeah? Well, take a ganders at this, an extract of an earlier post from a different thread: "Aaanyway, I came on here simply to post that I'd recently been witness to some full-frontal female nudity in the show "Above Suspicion" on ITV3 this evening. I know. Shocker. Said nude female was a slender young actress in a speaking role, standing behind a banister rail at the top of a flight of stairs and next to the fully-clothed actress with whom she was speaking and also in full view of a character played by the lead actress (also fully-clothed). The context was that the main character had entered a house owned by a disabled ex-cop (played by ex-Corrie favourite John "Ah Sayyy" Savident) to interview him, but was instead confronted by the reality that the house was routinely used for the shooting of adult movies. The nude actress had wandered, bitching but untroubled by the detective's presence, onto the scene to whine about some minor detail or other, before being fobbed off by the second female. The exposure was full body, full-length, full-frontal with both nipple and modest labial exposure. Exposure lasted for approximately 5 seconds plus. The scene was screened before 10pm." This is outrageous. So, on the suggestion of StanTheMan and in order to fulfil the Eccles mission of providing some kind of case-law database to defend the babeshows by demonstrating that nudity really is acceptable, I propose that this thread be used to post any sightings on 'mainstream tv' of the sort of nudity that might land a babeshow in hot water. This could be on the basis of screening time, level of nudity, or context. Let's see what's really going on out there! Semper vigilans, people, semper vigilans. RE: Mainstream TV nudity vs babeshow nudity - StanTheMan - 02-01-2011 00:48 If no one bothers with this thread you're going to fookin' hate me, aren't you, Krill? I better start finding some examples RE: Mainstream TV nudity vs babeshow nudity - mrmann - 02-01-2011 00:53 I have examples, but I've already posted them, so I might copy and paste them here. Another thing, while we might have examples, it's obvious that not everyone here will believe us, so maybe some actual evidence would work. Videos, caps etc. That way, people will actually see what we're talking about. I'm sure Sexcetera, Sexarama, Eurotash and other non adult channel shows will have plenty of graphic content to come, so that shouldn't be too hard to find, but it will mean that people will need to record these shows. I can't record unfortunately, so all I have to offer is my comments. I also suffer from an inability to cap or record (booo!), so it's words and numbers for me, I'm afraid. Let the data collection begin! Oh and Stan - I won't take it personally! lol RE: Mainstream TV nudity vs babeshow nudity - Addison - 02-01-2011 21:53 I don't see how the briefest burst of full frontal nudity in a TV drama show is evidence of double standards or what have you. Didn't see 'Above Suspicion' myself, but as Light Entertainment suggests here, it sounds as though the nude scene was justifiable from the point of view of plot advancement/psychological development/rounding out of characters. The main crux is how long the nude woman was on screen for (about five seconds?); just enough to add an extra layer of intrigue to the mix and help to illuminate a character from a fresh angle. Duration and – however much you dislike the idea - context are the keys, as they are in relation to most glimpses of nudity you'll see featured in that grey area on terrestrial TV, when a feature length adult-orientated drama finishing at eleven has its start at nine. Seems a bit like straw clutching to ask why hours of live, unfolding, unvettable-in-advance television can't feature repeated views of exposed genitalia for the obvious and sole purpose of sexual gratifying its as-near-as-damn-it totally male audience, when a pre-recorded, pre-viewable TV drama watched by a much broader demographic shows a blink-and-you'll-miss-it flash of full frontal. It's like watching a Morse-esque detective drama and seeing a pianist who's a murder suspect or key witness perform a few seconds of Erik Satie's notorious 'Vexations' (it's a piece that takes almost a complete day to perform in full properly!) in order to show his character in a certain light, and demanding to know why the same Satie piece isn't repeatedly being performed live and unexpurgated on a Sky arts channel*. The musical interlude in the Morse-type drama is functioning in a specific way and for a wider, less specialised audience; as is any nudity you'll see like that. *Since you're wondering , the musicians would most likely balk after a while (see The Kronos Quartet's reaction to being asked to do repeated performances of Morton Feldman’s almost five hour long 'String Quartet II'); and all but hardcore fans of highly repetitious, long duration music pieces would quickly lose interest. RE: Mainstream TV nudity vs babeshow nudity - eccles - 03-01-2011 00:17 Channel One +1 now (00:10, Sky 122), documentary on filming a porn film. About one minute of the male performer naked, small flaccid penis and shaved pubis on show. Slightly earlier: man having vaginal intercourse with a woman, woman on her back using hands from 2 fingers to stimulate her clitoris. No genitals on view, but genitals and fingers could not have been anywhere else. Oh, an some lesbian oral sex. No? How about Female Agents, BBC 3, about 22:30, flicked over to see two women stripping on stage. Assumed it would be a tame implied-strip, only to have them uncover their breasts (to distract the nazis). Embarrasing as I was in the company of a teenager and the EPG gave no indication of adult themes. RE: Mainstream TV nudity vs babeshow nudity - Krill Liberator - 03-01-2011 00:41 Good stuff, Eccles, and interesting too. The most problematic material was in a drama, not in a doc regarding the sex industry? Fascinating. I observed the repeat of "Why Men Watch Porn" on Channel One, and there was nothing there vaguely titillating or even resembling nudity, as it was all heavily censored. Somewhat unsurprisingly. I need to watch more drama, it seems. And, much as I appreciate what Addison says, there does seem to be a pattern of sorts. "It's okay in small unexpected doses because it's artistic." Keep on the lookout for this sort of thing! RE: Mainstream TV nudity vs babeshow nudity - mrmann - 03-01-2011 01:06 Sexcetera is on right now, and lots of uncensored penises in view. The porn clown posse is currently being documented. Will see what else they show tonight. RE: Mainstream TV nudity vs babeshow nudity - Timbo - 03-01-2011 12:18 ITV 1 showed male full frontal the other night before 10:00pm with the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall. RE: Mainstream TV nudity vs babeshow nudity - RCTV - 03-01-2011 13:57 Mainstream tv nudity can only be done if it's art and they have to get permission to broadcast it, the babe channels is totally different as they don't see it as art. |
