Embedding Videos From Tube Sites. - Mister Gummidge - 23-01-2009 14:01

This is pretty basic stuff, after all I know how to do it! But it occurs to me that something is only easy to do if you know how it's done. With that in mind, a brief tutorial for those who've never embedded a video before.

Step 1

Go to your favourite tube-style site -I've chosen youtube as it's the big hitter in the market- and select the video you want

Step 2
Look around the screen until you see a box labled embed.(In youtube it's on the right) Left click the text inside that box and it will change colour.

Step 3
Right click on the highlighted text and select copy from the context menu

Step 4
In the body of your post, right click again and select paste. The embed code should appear in full in the in the text window of your new reply

Note It's always a good idea to preview your post first, just to make sure the video embedded is the one you were wanting to embed.

Step 5
Post your reply and the video will be on the forum for all to see!

This may be a case of teaching your granny how to suck eggs, but you never know, it may come in handy for someone.

The same instructions apply for all tube-ish sites, the embed code may just be in a different area of the screen.

Indeed they do, but when that happens just scan around, there's often an alternate or embeddable version hanging around. And if all else fails, just post a link to the pageBig Grin

Cutting out steps 3 and 4 once you have highlighted the text just hold Ctrl and C and when you go to post just hold Ctrl and P.

Nice guide.

I've never tried to embed any of my videos for the following reasons.
1. Youtube doesn't allow porn
2. The other sites such as clipser demand full registration details.
Perhaps a fake identity could be entered, but a correct email address is needed.
3. People sometimes get banned and content deleted.
4. Uploading video files to megaupload seems to work ok.

I try to keep a low profile on the internet and can honestly say that I never receive any spam emails apart from a few "adverts" from my IP. This is in stark contrast to lots of other people that I know and spam stories that I have read.
