Ted Lowe RIP - Charlemagne - 01-05-2011 20:53

I've just seen on the snooker that whispering Ted Lowe has died at the age of 90 years.

He was famous for his commentary on the BBC show Pot Black.

How odd that he has died at the start of the final of the World Championship.

Ted was given a standing ovation at The Crucible today.

There's not many commentators that you could honestly say played as much of a part making their sport popular as most of the players. Whispering Ted was one of the few. Just as watching F1 without Murray Walker still doesn't seem right, I don't think snooker will ever sound right without him. RIP.
