Unfortunately this changes nothing regards our boys out in Afghanistan as the Taliban are nothing to do with al-Qaeda & the Taliban leader Mullah Omar is still going strong & they've just announced their plans for a Spring offensive.

As for al-Qaeda, their main man Ayman al-Zawahiri hasn't been captured or killed yet & he's long been considered the organizations leader where as Osama Bin Laden was seen as the public face & financier.

On April 30, 2009, the US State Department reported that Zawahiri had now emerged as al-Qaeda's operational and strategic commander and that Osama bin Laden was now only the ideological figurehead of the organization, After the May 1, 2011 death of Osama bin Laden, al-Zawahiri was described as a leading contender for the leadership of al-Qaeda; an unnamed "senior [U.S.] administration official" told Wired News that although al-Zawahiri is likely to be al-Qaeda's next leader, his authority is not "universally accepted" among al-Qaeda's followers, particularly in the Gulf region.

The Story Continues......
