feel free to delete em... - HEX!T - 10-06-2011 10:04 if it helps the site then the mods or admin can delete any posts that i have made but have ended up in the twilight zone or any other none user accessed part of the forum such as the mods vault. i know it will affect my post count but if it helps the site work quicker then please feel free. RE: feel free to delete em... - terence - 10-06-2011 11:02 if they take all your posts out of the twilight zone it will cease to exist!! RE: feel free to delete em... - chrislatimer - 10-06-2011 11:47 thought they already did wipe the TZ. if its slowing the forum down kill threads older then a year RE: feel free to delete em... - sweetsugar007 - 10-06-2011 12:11 Maybe reduce the option for guests to come on to the site forcing it only to be available to registered users. RE: feel free to delete em... - gazfc - 10-06-2011 12:27 Honestly can't see what a few kb difference would make? RE: feel free to delete em... - aceman65 - 11-06-2011 06:06 Well I normally delete my own posts if the said post has served it's purpose. But the moderators have my permission to remove any of my posts that no longer serve any purpose, other than to take up space. Obviously Caps & Video posts need to stay, unless the download link is dead. But I usually re-upload those and get a moderator to insert the new link, rather than making a new post. And yes Hex!t, I tend to agree with you. Individually each post doesn't add up to much. But with over 50,000 members, collectively all those Kilobytes soon add up. They may be 50k members but there's only just shy of 700k posts, these posts are pretty much txt so won't be taking up that much space. If theres a real need to free up space just delete all the a-z threads and any attachment that's over 6 months old or alternatively move to a web host that has enough bandwidth to handle peak times |
