BBC Alba - mikedafc - 22-07-2011 19:08 has it been added to freeview boxes in England/Wales or is it just in Scotland? It has meant that you can't listen to BBC Radio 1-4 in the hours which it broadcasts. RE: BBC Alba - mr anonymous - 22-07-2011 20:13 To answer the actual question, on freeview bbc alba is only available in scotland. All other nations don't get it. To make space for the channel in scotland a number of radio stations go off air in scotland during albas broadcast hours. So while alba is on air the radios are not. All other nations of the united kingdom still get all bbc radio stations 24 hours a day its only scotland affected. RE: BBC Alba - mr williams - 23-07-2011 14:47 It's only happened in Scotland at the behest of, and with the full backing and support of the Scottish Assembly, who pay £12.4m a year to help subsidise the service. Just for the record, this was all planned BEFORE the last Scottish elections. At least you've kept Radio 5, as originally that was going to be taken off as well! |
