Good Gig Guide - Sylar - 24-02-2009 15:33

Hi everyone.

What's the best music concert you've ever been to?

Best stand-up comedy gig you've seen?

Which random lesser-known acts would you recommend going to see?

Best music concert ive ever been to was U2' on there popmart tour in 1997 from the LA Colisseum! It was a birthday present from my girlfriend at the time (yep she was loadedTongue)
btw The Monkees were the support act!!!!

Best stand up i've seen live was last month Jimmy Carr from the Birmingham symphony hall! LMAO all night Tongue

Pink Floyd 'The Wall' Earls Court, London 1980.
Hundreds of others but this was the pinnacle!

I can't compete with those two! U2 in Los Angeles would be a dream gig, slightly jealous!

The best I've seen is Muse in Manchester, followed by Kings of Leon & The Enemy. Just got tickets through for Red Light Company for £6.50 each - Proof that there are some advantages to the credit cruch!

As I've said elsewhere on here and other forums live concerts are my main interest. I've seen more than my bank balance would like to admit to and I've got literally thousands of recordings. The best I've ever seen was u2 second night wembley stadium on the joshua tree tour - according to Bono one of their best ever shows. Some links for anyone interested:

http://www.wolfgangsvault.com (amazing live recording collection and completely legal)
http://www.npr.org (you need to click on the music tab and keep going but great live stuff turns up - full Radiohead 2008 gig)
http://www.u2start.com (every u2 live recording in existence, they claim, I have some they don't but try telling them that)
http://www.btxmp3index.freeforums.org/index (at least one version of every song Bruce Springsteen has played live ever)
http://www.bootlegzone.com
http://www.archive.org (mainly very obscure live recordings - again legal)
http://www.david-bowie.net (prone to links not working so be warned)

Best stand up - billy connolly about twelve years ago - 3 hours no break - saw him again the night after and not one second was a repeat - awesome.

The only stand-up gig I've been to was Lee Evans - it was the record-breaking audience one that they keep showing on Paramount Comedy. He was excellent but we were sat so far back that I could only see him on the big screens beside the stage! We could have watched it on tele at home and kept the £35!

Did you go to the june nec one or the august ones from the joshua tree tour. I have all three on tape - sound isn't great though on the august ones. Just noticed I made a bit of a mess of my original post when I copied the links in - it did say I had u2 LA 21/6/97 on tape as well - the other bits I took out as I got a warning on a music forum the other day for 'encouraging breach of artists copyright' - know it wouldn't happen on here but I have the same user name there and here.

Forgot this link:

http://www.fabchannel.com (hundreds of streaming full length concerts and again it's legal)

Not exactly a concert BUT....

You can not beat going to Glastonbury festival. For the atmosphere, the range of music and just for a pure laugh.

Love it.
