Legendary concept artist Ralph McQuarrie, the man responsible for the look of the Star Wars universe including the designs for Darth Vader and Chewbacca, died today at the age of 82. If it wasn't for him star wars wouldn't be the way it is today rest in peace.

An absolute master in his field. The word genius gets thrown around a lot these days, but looking at his work it is hard to find a more fitting word.

very sad news, i saw a star wars exhibition a few years back at the barbican center,and there were a few original paintings by ralph.
they were all so detailed .
