RIP Bert Weedon - rickhardo - 20-04-2012 19:00

Bert Weedon has died. Many will never have heard of him but he's one of the most influential figures in postwar British music. His "Play in a Day" guitar tutorials were the introduction to playing for many of the finest guitarists this country has produced. Eric Clapton, Mike Oldfield, Brian May, Paul McCartney amd Hank Marvin are just some of those who have cited him as an influence. RIP Bert.

Indeed, his influence cannot be understated, and not forgetting that he had a well deserved number 1 album in 1976 with a compilation of guitar solos.

Use to use tune a day, learning the old brass instruments, must have been based on his play a day. Still 91 can't argue with that. good life.
