I thought it would be a good idea to have a chat and discussion thread for the news that is going on around the world instead of starting new threads all the time for a news story. You can talk about anything that is topical in the news that interests you such as the Arab spring, the economic crisis or politics to name a few examples. If this thread proves to be unpopular, I will get it removed

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake hit the west coast of Ireland yesterday. I don't know if anyone was injured or any major damage was done. I didn't feel a thing though when it occurred yesterday
