Getting a new TV - recommendations? - Digital Dave - 23-11-2012 00:15 I'm still using my trusty Phillips 32" CRT widescreen which I bought in 1999! A huge beast but still working well. It will be a shame to get rid of it but I think the time has finally come to migrate to HD. (I'm not what you would call an early adopter ![]() Having said that, I do have a superb Humax Freeview HD PVR so I'd like to use that to its full potential. The preferred spec would be a screen size of around 42 inches, 3D ready and internet-capable so that I can use various IPTV apps on it. Can any of you recommend a particular model of TV? I think I'll go for LCD or LED rather than plasma, with the emphasis being on the best possible picture quality. I'm not too bothered about the audio as I live in a flat and can't crank up the volume anyway. Internet connectivity is important as I think this will continue to develop, with more and more TV channels (including the babe channels) transmitting via IPTV apps as well as Freeview and satellite. Thanks in advance. RE: Getting a new TV - recommendations? - The Truth - 23-11-2012 01:42 If your looking for something relatively inexpensive that will get you started in hd/3d viewing, try looking at the Bush 42 full hd/3d lcd with 8 pairs of glasses included for £399 from Argos. You can check the spec @ argos online...the item no:529/9263. I think it could be worth a look RE: Getting a new TV - recommendations? - terence - 23-11-2012 01:58 http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33199_7-20118050-221/cnets-3d-tv-buying-guide/ not sure i'd bother with 3d myself http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/tvs/best-smart-tvs-50008184/ smart tv's RE: Getting a new TV - recommendations? - bombshell - 23-11-2012 11:05 I have had my Samsung 40inch Smart TV for about 5 months now,at the moment it is wired to the internet, you can get a Wi Fi adapter but i thought the price was extortionate, apart from that i would recommend it. RE: Getting a new TV - recommendations? - Digital Dave - 23-11-2012 13:03 Thanks guys. That Bush TV mentioned by The Truth is an amazing price! I'll investigate further. Terence, point taken about the 3D, there seems to be a very lukewarm response by users and reviewers to the whole thing. Bombshell, Samsung seem to get consistently good reviews but as you say, they are pricey (not as bad as Sony though).
