Holly Willoughby That Dress - eccles - 27-06-2013 02:16

The BBC has apologised for the dress worn by Holly Willoughby for the final of The Voice.

Annoyingly they have both apologised and not apologised, saying "We're sorry if some viewers found Holly's dress to be unsuitable." and the dress "was glamorous and wholly appropriate for the occasion" and the presenter "enjoys fashion", adding: "We don't believe it (the dress) would have gone against audience expectations for a TV spectacle such as this."

There is no mechanism for viewers to not complain, the register that they are not offended.

Was the dress unsuitable? Are broadcasters scared of showing the normal range of clothing that ordinary men and women wear in real life?

Or should TV be safe to watch with your maiden aunt and fundamentalist religious relatives unless there is a specific plot point? Should broadcasters pretend that women do not have chests or legs?

the bbc issued their statement apologising for any upset caused by holly's dress eccles because 139 people complained about holly's dress. didnt say where they complained too (either bbc or ofcom). but they were right to apologise to the people who did complain and also right to say they themselves thought holly's dress was "glamourous and wholly appropriate for the occasion"

im sure if the bbc themselves thought holly's dress wasnt suitable for the show, they would have made holly not wear it.

overall though you can say the vast majority of people liked holly's dress given the audience for the voice final peaked at around 9 million

well a couple weeks before they said that ratings were down due to fact that holly was showing "NO" cleavage.

So in hindsight flesh on TV = Big ratings
While no flesh = No ratings

hahahaa

Ofcom say they received 30 complaints about "The Voice" broadcast on the 22nd of June 2013, Ofcom don't say what the complaints were about, Ofcom have not yet said if they will be launching a investigation .(my guess is they will investigate)

If this is the date Holly wore the dress and it's the dress that they are complaining about then the majority of complaints you mention (139) must have been directly to the BBC not Ofcom .
