Ban Lads Mags - HannahsPet - 24-08-2013 07:33 Cant believe no one has started a thread on this as its been going for weeks but now Feminista is trying to force tescos to stop selling lads mags what are peoples thoughts ? personally I think the media is to blame for allowing these cranks airtime just had 5 mins on bbc breakfast when there are a lot of better things that are going on in the world and all they seem to be doing is increasing the sales of lads mags apparently when they tried this with co-oprative then the sales of nuts hit a 6 month high RE: Ban Lads Mags - bombshell - 28-08-2013 11:43 I saw the same interview,my first reaction was of surprise that these publications still exist,it is years since i looked at one of these magazines, with the advent of the internet i am surprised they still sell. ![]() RE: Ban Lads Mags - Doddle - 31-08-2013 14:19 I do kinda think they've had their day. But I wouldn't support such a sexist move without a similar ban for the equally dodgy womens mags like Cosmo etc, and the ones aimed at teen girls, which cause just as much trouble. RE: Ban Lads Mags - Rammyrascal - 31-08-2013 14:47 think it's a waste of time this attempt to get tescos to ban lads mags as Tesco's have already agreed to tighten up how they sell lads mags by making them only available to over 18's, put them on the top shelf and also have got nuts mag to tone down their covers. agree with doddle, the lads mags have had their day now, I personally haven't bought one in a long time. also agree with doddle's point that it is sexist this attempt to ban lads mags from tescos. the feminists are kicking off about the images of women topless or in lingerie or bikinis on the covers of lads mags yet there are identical images of women topless etc on the covers of womens magazines and celebrity gossip mags yet the feminists are not outraged about them. I was in my local tescos earlier and on the cover of a womens mag was two women in bikinis and one topless I think like with all previous attempts to ban lads mags and page 3 this latest attempt will fail and the lads mags will survive. for how long they will survive is another matter as the sales of lads mags overall have declined dramatically. front magazine in its heyday had sales figures of 400,000 and now it's sales are around 40,000 it was reported in the news a few weeks ago RE: Ban Lads Mags - HannahsPet - 09-09-2013 08:15 So co-operative have banned the lads mags from there stores |
