Glasgow helicopter crash - Shady - 30-11-2013 17:10

Police Scotland now confirm that 8 people died when the force's helicopter crashed into the Clutha Vaults pub in Stockwell Street. For once I agree with Alex Salmond when he says it's a "Black day for Glasgow and Scotland".

Very sad news.

St.Andrew's day too.

What was, and still is exemplary behaviour is the calmness of how the Glaswegians reacted to this event. No wheeping and wailing just good citizens helping eachother then moving away to let the resuce services do their job. No mention of blame etc. Makes me proud to be descended from such solid people.

but im sure would have been the same in any part of the country in times of disaster we all seem to pull together but still fair play to them. if it hadnt for them maybe more would have died or had been injured

thoughts go to the people of glasgow and the relatives

It's not a competition and nobody suggested otherwise. Not sure why you would focus on that Huh

its the way the media have been ramming it home with like some sort of shock that the bystanders helped. what were they expecting them to rob the victims

I certainly haven't interpreted it like that, nor has anyone else I've spoken to so far.

I manage the social media for another Glasgow bar and despite hundreds of comments and links over several platforms, nobody has inferred any negativity from the news reports. Your post is the first and so far, only comment that appears to have misread the tone of the reports.

It would be the last thing that you expect on a night out.

Many sympathies to them, their families and to all the injuried.

Yeah, exactly...it's just such a bizarre, unthinkable accident to have happened. It wouldn't cross your mind as something that could ever occur.
