Tony Benn R.I.P - *Kal-El* - 14-03-2014 18:48

The veteran Labour politician and figurehead of the left Tony Benn has died at the age of 88. He was probably one of the only MP's that i had respect for and allows followed what he believed in he likes will never be seen again, R.I.P Tony.

Well respected MP and was not afraid to speak his mind. One of the very few politicians that could be trusted, in my opinion. R.I.P. Tony Benn.

Sadly often misunderstood and occasionally politically naive, he was nonetheless a great narrator and a true defender of the common man's rights. A shame there is no one to assume his mantle and take on the big corporate concerns. RIP

I've got all the Diaries (save the latest one where I'm waiting for the paperback), and though I disagreed with some of his deepest convictions, I salute his legendary tea-drinking, his being a great family man, and having a marriage that lasted over 50 years. Oh, and his role in Concorde.

Dont think he was politically naive, just he believed in the purest form of Socialism an ideal which no longer exists! He was a legend in British politics and we will not see his like again.

As much as i disagreed with his politics at least he stood up for his beliefs unlike the parasites in parliament now.
