Youtube does not actually exist anymore, it's just part of Google now although it retains the Youtube name. Since Google paid a lot of money for it, we can't be surprised that they want their investment to pay off.

Personally never been massively into YouTube, always preferred Vimeo. Guess it depends what content you're after though I guess
