I've always had a soft spot for Alvin. A nice guy and with no big ego as stars often have. Didn't take himself too seriously. He was just about to release a new album, so it would be nice if it still came out. The album is finished, so it can still be released if everyone's willing.

More sad news.
He never took the music industry too seriously with his giant sideburns, slicked back hair and all that leather and jewellery - and the strange way he held the microphone when singing.

Probably one of the icons of 70's music - and I was transfixed by the way he held the microphone too!! I'm sure he had several top ten hits but can't remember how many No 1 singles he had. I'm sure there were a few. I think he made side buns quite popular!! RIP to a talented, respected and much loved 70's icon. Thoughts and prayers to family and friends.

People forget that he had 2 successful pop careers - one in the late 50s/early 60s as Shane Fenton, then he semi-retired and then reappeared as Alvin Stardust.

The album has been released.
Alvin's death was very sudden. His last stage appearance was only 4 days before he died.
