He was a nasty piece of work during his gangster time in the 1960's. Prison must have changed/reformed him as he become somewhat of a "cult" to certain sections of the media.

he wasnt an associate of the krays he was in a rival gang. the richardson gang.
cant be that much of a hardman he was conscripted during WWII but deserted so he could carry on robbing in wartime london

If you read up on him, you will see the guy was a vicious thug, who was never convicted of many heinous crimes. Wouldnt think he will be missed, and certainly no celebrity.

He was a soldier for the Richardson gang - who were far more vicious than the Krays, although never as well known. Fraser was violent even by their standards, and was responsible for some pretty gruesome torture of opponents.
I was in a taxi in London a few years ago and the cabby suddenly exclaimed "there's mad Frankie". He was crossing the road in front of us. He was quite a small man, well dressed and with jet-Black hair - he had a real sense of menace about him.
Spent over 40 years in prison - a true psychopath.
