RIP Charles Kennedy MP - HannahsPet - 02-06-2015 06:36

Former Liberal Democrat Party leader Charles Kennedy has died at his home in Scotland aged 55, his family has said.
The Scottish ex-MP's death was not believed to be suspicious and the cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
Mr Kennedy, who led his party from 1999 to 2006, lost his seat in the Ross, Skye and Lochaber constituency in last month's general election.
His family said they felt an "enormous sense of shock" and paid tribute to a fine man and talented politician.
They said Mr Kennedy died at home in Fort William on Monday and said they were "devastated".
A post-mortem is due to take place.
Mr Kennedy's predecessor as Liberal Democrat leader Paddy Ashdown paid tribute to the politician and tweeted: "Charles Kennedy. In a political age not overburdened with gaiety and good sense, he brought us wit, charm, judgement, principle and decency."

Scotland and westminister has lost another great politician.

Everything Paddy Ashdown said about him is true h was a good politician who stood up for what he believed was right but his wit and charm was probably his best characteritics
55 seems a young age to be taken too RI he will be much missed

A true character. He'll be missed

RE: RIP Charles Kennedy MP - Doddle - 02-06-2015 07:51

Shocking news, a far better politician than ever given credit for, and his early bath from the leadership in 2006 was as disgraceful a backstabbing as you'll ever see.

If I'd lost my job after 32 years through no fault of my own, because my country had plumped for a collective mania instead, I don't think I would have been stoic about it.

RIP Sad

Very sad news, he was one of the few normal blokes in politics and also the lib dems most successful leader, its am at to think someone of his age could have been an mp for 32 years RIP

Sad news indeed. Had a lot of time for him, he was one of the good guys, with a sense of decency. R.I.P. Charles.

Charles Kennedy was one of the most genial, affable, honourable and decent of people in the political sphere.
Spoke always with a sense of reason, compromise, humility, wit and honesty. All this in an era where the trust and faith in politicians generally slumped to all time low.
A canny and shrewd political operator and a very talented debator. The fact that so many tributes have flooded in already from all sides of the political spectrum is testament to him.
A man of the people who faced up to all the challenges that life presented with dignity and class.

R.I.P Charles Kennedy - you will be sorely missed Sad

He was something of a character, I remember when he famously said he'd legalise cannabis Rolleyes

RIP - The world of politics will now be a quieter place without your presence Huh
