Just been announced that Jimmy perry writer of shows like Dads Army and Hi De Hi has died aged 93

Jimmy Perry along with David Croft were responsible for most of the funniest of BBC's comedy output in the late 20thc.
His sister in law was Diane Holland who played the part of Yvonne Stuart-Hargreaves in Hi-de-Hi!

The original "Stupid boy", but he turned out to be a very clever, very funny man. Also a very nice man, too, which doesn't always follow.

Both DA and HDH were the stuff of classic sitcoms.93's a cracking age, though. Altogether: "your name will also go on the list! what is it?"

RIP Jimmy Perry one of the best comic writers of my generation
It is a shame comedy isn't written like it was with him any more I think there will be many of his classic shown as a tribute to him soon
