The Post 0ffice have just announced that staff will take strike action for 5 days up to Christmas Eve over job cuts, pensions and branch closures
I feel this action will only open the door for the government to further open up the market for other companies to take on deliveries or maybe open branches in towns where main branches have closed

Our main post office is now in WH smiths.
Its only post offices that are closed wont effect deliverys

I doubt alot of people will even notice. They closed our local Post Office a couple of months ago.
There's rumoured to be a counter hidden at the back of one the shops now, but it could just be an urban myth

Thats the problem using british workers instead of Eastern European and migrant workers they want 10£ an hour to just get out of bed in the morning

I know that in some of WH Smiths store it can work as they have the space - in the one I work in it wouldn't Certainly do think closing main PO branches and relocating them elsewhere does kill a lot of the community spirit in place because quite often that's when most people meet each other if it is only once a week

Totally agree but I think you could also point everything back to the financial crisis in 2008 and say that's when the real problems that we have now began

everyone wants to blame the bankers for everything but this not there fault this one
basically the advent of internet this and online that means that post offices are no longer required in such high numbers as they were. with almost everything being done online including many of the functions that the post office did. with stuff like Pensions and benefits being put straight into bank acounts they are not needed think most pensioners only go in there to queue and talk about how bad things are today
