Some people just like complaining :

SS-GB: BBC make huge blunder after using WRONG spitfire in WW2 drama
http://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/769430/SS-GB-BBC-huge-blunder-WRONG-spitfire-WW2-drama-BBC-One-WWII-Mk-IX-Len-Deighton

Quote:Flying over the city was a spitfire Mk IX - but, eagle-eyed viewers noted that this plane was not introduced until 1943.

History buffs instantly took to Twitter, outraged by the monumental error, and switched the programme off due to the lack of fact-checking.

Wasn't thrilled with it myself, though had no problem with the sound. It was hard to take James Cosmo seriously after seeing him in Celebrity Big Brother.

Reminds me of the BNP poster with a Spitfire on in about britain first and turns out it was used by polish aircrew during the Battle of Britain Tongue Tongue Tongue

It is chilling how close to reality it probably is had Hitler succeeded in 1941 and probably none of us probably wouldn't be here, the research that was done by author for the novel on which it is based did is probably staggering information how much has survived

BBC making a few good drama's last few months with Taboo and Apple tree yard

Gave it a go, couldn't get into it as the sound was a problem, I don't care for the lead actor either.
Think I'll read the book instead at some point, as the story is interesting.

Book is excellent as are all Deighton's books, perhaps also consider if you have not read them An Expensive Place to Die , The Ipcress File and Funeral in Berlin all excellent reads
