Tory Manifesto Proposals to 'Control & Regulate' the Internet - Censorship :-( - 20-05-2017 13:50

First mentioned here:

And referenced, starting here:

So potentially significant are these proposals, that they deserve their own thread, IMO.

Sadly, emboldened by the expectation of a landslide victory at the forthcoming Westminster election, the Tories seem free to propose all manner of bullshit:

Some choice snippets from the article in the Independent:

"While much of the internet is currently controlled by private businesses like Google and Facebook, Theresa May intends to allow government to decide what is and isn't published, the manifesto suggests."

"The government will be able to place restrictions on seeing adult content and any exceptions would have to be justified to ministers, the manifesto suggests."

"We will put a responsibility on industry not to direct users – even unintentionally – to hate speech, pornography, or other sources of harm," the Conservatives write

So, porn is equivalent to hate speech, then?! Surprised

There's lots more, too... eek bladewave

Apologies for the cliché, but, China, Iran et al must be looking on with envy. bladewave Sad
