BBC salaries - lancealot790 - 19-07-2017 11:00 The size of the salaries paid to some the BBC so called stars defy belief, how the hell can anyone justify paying Gary Lineker £1.8 million a year to present match of the day? RE: BBC salaries - hops1 - 19-07-2017 11:06 Alex Jones only gets £500k and she has way better tits!!! The injustice RE: BBC salaries - Charlemagne - 19-07-2017 11:18 Worst is Chris Evans on 2.2 million.. I can understand these high levels of pay if they have a talent.. singer, musican etc, but for someone who just talks for a living these hign levels of pay are way too much. RE: BBC salaries - SecretAgent - 19-07-2017 11:25 Don't underestimate the talent required to present a show. It requires a lot of ability to be a safe pair of hands who can handle interviews, live news feeds, changing storylines and make it look seamless. The BBC have already said they pay less than the competition so just imagine what a knob like Piers Morgan gets at ITV. This rule forcing the BBC to publish salaries was an act of spite by the Conservative Culture Secretary at the time. RE: BBC salaries - lancealot790 - 19-07-2017 11:28 There is no justification for anyone at the BBC to be paid the sort of money revealed today. Half a million for Alan Shearer and Claudia Winkleman is just obscene and totally undeserved, its time for the licence fee to be scrapped completely and BBC forced to stand on its own two feet. RE: BBC salaries - SecretAgent - 19-07-2017 11:32 It's a competitive market. If you want the media controlled by Murdoch then go ahead and drive the BBC into the ground. It is a competitive market, but paying Alan Shearer £400k to comment on MOTD is ridiculous, surely there are more cost efficient & insightful ex-players. Don't have a particular issue with journalists or current affairs presenters earning decent money as I believe they add value with the BBC being the dominant news provider in the UK RE: BBC salaries - biggles - 19-07-2017 12:02 (19-07-2017 11:25 )SecretAgent Wrote: Don't underestimate the talent required to present a show. Totally agree the Tories hate the BBC so now will begin a chorus of getting rid of the licence fee. Go to any other country and see there TV - the BBC is so much better. RE: BBC salaries - hops1 - 19-07-2017 12:13 Instead of pissing around the BBC, they should release Babestation and S66 salaries and watch all hell break out..... RE: BBC salaries - Censorship :-( - 19-07-2017 12:25 While the BBC is funded by the License Fee Payer, it doesn't operate in a vacuum, and has to compete for the so-called 'talent' against commercial broadcasters; I'm actually surprised by how 'modest' the salaries are, compared to what I'm guessing the likes of ITV or $ky likely pay? I can only guess, of course, as they would likely claim commercial sensitivity (or some such), if they were asked to divulge such information. This is just a politically motivated stunt, driven by ideological hatred of the BBC, and the determination to destroy it. (And, FTR, I'm far from being a staunch defender of the Biased Broadcasting Corporation, which has many problems, IMO, but how much worse would things be if we were entirely at the mercy of Murodch...? ) How many of the top 'stars' of the commercial sector were developed by the BBC (with the attendant investment involved), their name 'made' by the Beeb, before they jumped ship/were poached, to get the 'big bucks' from $ky etc., thus saving these companies lots of money that they would otherwise have to spend on developing 'talent'? Of course such pay is not 'justified', but how are any celebrities, footballers, etc. incomes 'justified'; it's all obscene, and a part of the ridiculous 'celebrity culture', where celebs et al get given, sorry 'earn' , humongous amounts of money for doing next to fuck all, while people who do 'real jobs', get next to fuck all for actually working - It's 'the way of the world' in which we live, sadly. Personally, I see little need for the majority of presenters, commentators, pundits etc,. and I'd get rid of all of them, from all broadcasters. |
