England v West Indies 2017 - Mellow - 11-08-2017 12:58

The three match Test series starts next Thursday at Edgbaston and it will be England's first day/night Test match, starting at 2pm.

England have dropped opener Keaton Jennings and replaced him with Mark Stoneman. Also left out of the squad are Steven Finn and Liam Dawson, and they are replaced by Chris Woakes and Mason Crane.

Here's hoping Stoneman doesn't go the same way as Nick Compton, Michael Carberry, Sam Robson, Adam Lyth and numerous others who have tried, and failed to replace Andrew Strauss as Cook's opening partner. I think we have now tried a full team of 11 plus a 12th man to find someone who can score consistently at the top.

Maybe it's time for a pinch hitter!? David Willey, anyone? Big Grin

I think more than anything that the problem we have with our opening pair is one doesn't do that job that Boycott did and that was play and block and frustrate the opposition bowlers.
This series is more than anything the final chance for the team to find a settled opening pair before the tour to Australia.

So the match is a day/evening match under flood lights.
Lunch will be at 4pm bladewave and the ball will be pink.. (Lots of sexual inuendo to come from that alone)
