This is very sad news. Jana was one of the players who became heroes of mine when I was growing up. She was one of many instantly recognizable tennis stars who graced the grand slam tournaments that I enjoyed watching during the 1980s and 1990s.
Having a superb grand slam record - she won every doubles major, all but one of the mixed doubles majors and was the ladies' Wimbledon singles champion in 1998. She achieved over a hundred titles overall. She made perhaps one of the most iconic moments in Wimbledon history when she burst in to tears on the Duchess of Kent's shoulder after the 1993 final. It was a touching moment in time that put her firmly in the hearts of the nation.
Gone too young - RIP Jana.
