The historic cathedral is currently on fire. Building work was going on.

The spire has already gone, and most of the roof too, it's really sad when buildings like this get damaged or destroyed Sad

If it's just the roof then it can be rebuilt. But it not looking good.

One of the memorable building that I have visited.

If that Scaffold comes down they'll lose a large part of the shell.

Looks like the Fire may have breached one of the Towers. Some positive news that there are no injuries as yet.

Really horrible news. One of the greatest buildings in Europe and a similar place in French life as St Paul’s has in ours. It looks really bad, and I wonder if we now have the building techniques as well as the resources to carry out a restoration.

We rebuilt the South Transept at York Minster and restored Windsor Castle after those fires. I'm sure the French have the skills to do the same.

Coincidence that there is major building work happening

RE: Notre Dame Fire - Tumble_Drier - 15-04-2019 20:35

No coincidence at all I suspect. Probably a cock up by someone doing hot work up on the roof.

My god Trump speaking about it Tongue Tongue

They have mentioned a figure of 300 million euro to get the building back into use. But you can imagine that it will cost triple that figure by the time they finish.

The good news is that one French billionare has pledged 100 million euro.
