A good day to be a Hamster.

I didn't know he was ill! He was a real maverick on television and controversial at times with his comedy but you couldn't ignore him. He had his own series early on Freddie Starr's Madhouse I think it was and he also did a lot of cabaret stuff. Later he became a racehorse owner and won a Grand National with a horse called Minnehoma. He used to do impressions like Mick Jagger but was always very unpredictable.

RIP Freddie.
I think a lot of the time his comedy was misunderstood, but certainly I think he was probably The first real alternative Comedian to break through on TV.

All Hamsters can breathe sigh of relief..

Thank you for the memories Freddie.

Hi

Just read a report, it seemed for the last two years he was living alone, no visitors only his carer, very sad. In his day he was fantastic, really made me laugh

RIP Freddie gone to soon

The Spanish police don't suspect foul play but he was found naked on the floor of his Spanish villa. In his heyday he was a big star, did a lot of good impressions including Elvis Presley but as I said he was very unpredictable. On one of his shows I remember he shoved a custard pie up a woman's skirt(part of his act I think) which was probably quite shocking at the time and another he had a large lump of wood in his hand and started to destroy the props around him. Not to everyone's taste but then I suppose you could call him alternative, yet he was a mainstream television comedian. Sad end to quite a career.

I saw Freddie a good few years ago. Didn't he gain fame on Opportunity Knocks.
RIP Freddie
