Blakes 7 star Paul Darrow has died aged 78

That's a shame, he was a fine actor most notably as Kerr Avon(no not the one here) in Blake's Seven as you say. His performance in that series was brilliant, surpassing the cheap-looking sets and as the series went on, his character got more and more serious, although his 'spat' with Orac was fun. In the end I think he ended up doing a lot of voice-over stuff. I did wonder what happened to him. Sad news.

RIP Paul, 'Blake's 7' was brilliant, great sets (even if they were cheap - looking), and he was brilliant. I did hear he was also trying to acquire the rights to the original series in the hope of reviving it, but never succeeded in doing so which is a shame because it would certainly would give Dr Who something to think about now if it was revived was able to use the technology that is around to it's advantage. Box sets must be hard to find as well, but I can't remember what happened at the end of the last episode would be where any new series - if it was ever revived - would pick up from.

Paul Darrow did acquire the rights to Blake's 7. At least he was part of a consortium which acquired the rights, but nothing ever came of attempts at returning Blake's 7 to the screen. It's a shame it didn't happen, as Avon was a classic character and it would have been good to see Paul Darrow playing him on TV again.
