Desperately sad day with this news!!SadSad An integral part of the greatest British comedy series in history - Yes Minister/Prime Minister! May not be remembered in the same way that Paul Eddington and Sir Nigel Hawthorne are/or will remain - (genius actors both) - but that is somewhat unfair, as, in many ways, the iconic series' success was down to him and the lines he delivered!! 'You take his key away from him' when pressing the PM to do his own 'dirty work' in 'The Key' episode or, 'nobody cares who runs the country, as long as she's got 'big tits' Incredible!!Big Laugh:biglaugh

For once, a reason to re run all the original episodes, in place of the disgraceful daytime schedule! Bet they won't though!! Despite doing just that a few short years ago, in the afternoons!, and calling it a chance to see BBC programmes from another era (ironically vastly superior to today) when the truth is, it was the start of a long road - to today and - no doubt - the future, of filling the time slots with populist output!

I wonder to what extent his passing will be referred to throughout the news output!! On previous occasions, others - who happen to be media darlings - were the subject of continuous interviews etc, with fellow luminaries when some - due respect - couldn't hold a candle to D Fowlds!

For me this is a desperately sad day.
My favourite sitcoms of all time see the last of their major components pass away.
Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister were series very close to my heart and works of total genius. Derek Fowlds as Bernard Woolley was a key part in the considerable enjoyment along with the superb Nigel Hawthorne as Sir Humphrey Appleby and Paul Eddington as Jim Hacker.
I frequently watch the box sets collections I proudly own.

No television programmes have captured my imagination and made me laugh so much as Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister.
I could reel off endless You Tube links of Bernard in full flow but I shall resist the temptation..........for now at least.
He was utterly brilliant in the role he played.

Sincerest condolences to his family.
A very sad loss.

R.I.P
