Hi. While searching for old BS videos on the usual porn sites, I came to an unsettling idea - vast amounts of data - the kind this site exists to protect - has already been lost irrecoverably simply because no-one decided to save it.
With this in mind, my question is this - is there a coordinated strategy to preserve this information?
If so, how do I get involved?
I can't claim to be helpful in any way regarding the capture of the content, but I'd be up to help with storage. We should also (IMO) move away from using file mirroring sites in favour of more decentralised solutions (e.g. P2P) - what if these sites go down, or decide to delete content to make more room on their servers?
Am I alone in thinking this is a significant issue?
