What a shame another group no longer complete.
I followed the punk thing closely between 1976 and 81 and I don't think I missed a single John Peel programme.
The Stranglers had played prog earlier in the seventies so they weren't one chord wonders at all. That showed with Greenfield's playing and it needed to be because keybords were an anathema. I recall Peel said that all of them should be dynamited but I for one made an exception where Greenfield was concerned.
Hugh Cornwall's comment that Dave Greenfield made the differnce between the Stranglers and every other punk band seems particularly accurate to me.
His greatest solo must surely be on No More Heroes.
It was Coronavirus but he had a dicky heart.

Absolutely. They stood out from the rest because of their musicianship and none more so than Dave with his wonderful keyboard runs. Very much the man responsible for their signature sound.
