How Do I Edit D/L'd Movies ? - Robot Devil - 09-06-2009 16:17

i've downloaded a few 'interesting' movies- generally because they feature one performer whom i am a fan off. the problem is obviously is that once the d/l is complete the movies takes up around 700mb and is 1h30 long when all i want is a 25 min scene featuring whoever. is there any way of cutting out/editing the movie so i'm left with only the scene i want ?

Depending on the codec of the film I use eiither virtualdub or Videoredo. Videoredo, I use for mpeg, virtualdub for avi. You can get virtualdub from sourceforge, videoredo from their site.

The two mentioned in the post above are popular, also see my sig. It is a simple as setting the first point, the second point and hitting save, there are however a million options if you want to play around too. Smile

Youtube has tutorial videos of the apps suggested so far.

I've already got virtualdub, I didn't know it did the job for this.

Does anyone know why when you are using something like Virtualdub to trim down a movie and you give it a start point and an end point the clip you get starts 4 or 5 seconds before the start point you specified. This often means that when you try to isolate a scene you end up with the last few seconds of the previous scene starting you off which is a bit annoying.

Is there a way to stop this?

D'uh. Why didn't I think of that? lol

Actually I did but that doesn't work. Either it skips back to the same starting point or (if you push the start point a couple more seconds) it starts after the scene has already begun. So either you get 4 or 5 seconds too much or too little.

Compressed video (dvix, xvid, wmv, mp4), only at the keyframe can be cut. Therefore slide.
Tip: You can use effects such as "fade in" or insert a black frame to uncover the unnecessary part.

Good luck Smile
