Serena forfeited her match and withdrew altogether because of an Achilles injury. 4-6 weeks rest, she says.

Seems Heather Watson as the last Brit left in the singles took the brunt of the UK press backlash about the fact no British player progressed to second round at French Open for the first time since 2013 when Murray missed tournament and went on to win Wimbledon
In other news from the tournament Mladenovic got robbed of a set point when the ball clearly bounced twice before her opponent got it up. She lost the plot after that and lost in straight sets
