Chris Killip the Social photographer has died aged 74 from cancer
His work was related to the social issues particularly in the 1980s. In 1987 whilst living in New Zealand I saw his exhibition The A1000
In the mid 1960s he began his career as an assistant to Adrian Flowers and worked as a commercial photographer for several years
His book In Flagrante was based on the exhibition and is a stunning record of the social division in the 1980s when we had structural unemployment and the north was suffering
Chris died to soon 74 is not a great age today and he was still working on and of
