Thoroughly disgusted that a government can vote against young kids having a chance to eat. I tip my hat to those going out of their way to help.

I tip my hat to the MP's who did vote against this legislation. Feed your own brats. That or learn to use a condom and don't have them in the first place.

The Chancellor Rishi Sunak has been banned from one of his local pubs in his constituency. Well he's welcome in my local anytime of the week.

If families can't afford to feed their children properly, the least any good government can do is fund free school meals.
If a country with an economy that's in the top ten in the world (for now) has need for food banks, then the government has failed it's citizens. It's a disgrace and under the Tories is only getting worse. That's a fact.

It doesn't help matters when smart arse little trolls poison discussions on such serious matters with their pathetic attention seeking crap Rolleyes

There's a quote, not sure who said it. 'Judge a society by how it treats it's most vulnerable'. Pretty good point, I think.

It is never ever the child’s fault.

How many of us remember our free school milk when we were at school? I remember at my secondary school we had to hand over a ticket before getting our food and I'm sure many schools had different systems. I agree with SA that it is never the child's fault, but I think those in government over the years have wrestled with this issue in a way that eventually kids are the ultimate loser of any decision taken

We had free school milk for the first few years of primary school, and our school lunches were great. We had awesome dinner ladies that made everything fresh daily, it was hearty, healthy food and nothing was kept, so they gave seconds, I can't remember it costing much, if anything. My secondary had three dining rooms, plus a nearby bakers and chippy, so plenty of options. The kids getting free meals had a sort of bus pass card and I can't remember anyone being funny about it, which was good. The food wasn't as healthy as it was in primary school (who chooses a salad if you can have sausage, chips and beans, I mean, c'mon, lol), but we had plenty of choices, healthy and not so much. It's funny, you don't hear many people remembering school dinners fondly, I loved ours, as did my fussy sister laugh

Kids today should have the same options we did, if not more. It's appalling that some schools aren't able to offer what we got due to funding. Education is the priority of course, but hunger has a very negative impact on concentration, so if kids need a free lunch, or even a breakfast too (some schools have a breakfast club), then that should be provided. Fucking Tories, couldn't give a shit unless it impacts them directly. It may not be for a while, but the day that shower of cunts are out of power is a day to celebrate.
