Gordon Strachan talking to BBC reporters

Reporter: This might sound like a daft question, but you'll be happy to get your first win under your belt, won't you?
Strachan: You're right. It is a daft question. I'm not even going to bother answering that one. It is a daft question, you're spot on there.

Reporter: You don't take losing lightly, do you Gordon?
Strachan: I don't take stupid comments lightly either.

Reporter: Gordon, if you were English, what formation would you play?
Strachan: If I was English I'd kill myself! ...

Reporter: Gordon, you must be delighted with that result?
Strachan: You're spot on! You can read me like a book.

Reporter: "Gordon, can we have a quick word please?"
Strachan: "Velocity" [walks off]

Gordon Strachan is qaulity. He had me in stiches, I used to love watching his interviews.

Here are some more....

Reporter: Welcome to Southampton Football Club. Do you think you are the right man to turn things around?
Strachan: No. I was asked if I thought I was the right man for the job and I said, "No, I think they should have got George Graham because I'm useless"

Strachan: I've got more important things to think about. I've got a yogurt to finish by today, the expiry date is today. That can be my priority rather than Agustin Delgado.

Reporter: Bang, there goes your unbeaten run. Can you take it?
Strachan: No, I'm just going to crumble like a wreck. I'll go home, become an alcoholic and maybe jump of a bridge. Umm, I think I can take it, yeah.

Reporter: There's no negative vibes or negative feelings here?
Strachan: Apart from yourself, we're all quite positive round here. I'm going to whack you over the head with a big stick, down negative man, down.

"Celtic, like Barcelona, are more than a football club. Our clubs are a symbol of a culture and community that has not always been made welcome in their respective countries."
Xavi (Barcelona midfielder)

"What these players have to realise, is that when you put on the Celtic jersey you're not playing for a football team, you're playing for a community and a cause" - Tommy Burns

"Yes my time at Celtic is over, but this is not a time to be sad i would be sad if I had never played for Celtic" -Lubo Moravcik

"West Ham is always in my heart" - Paulo Di Canio

Thomas, it's up for grabs NOWWwww THOMASSSSSS right at the end. the liverpool players are down absolutly abject. aldridge is down barnes is down dalglish just stands there. nichol's on his knees, mcmahon's on his knees. suddenly it was michael thomas charging through, the bounce fell his way, he flicked it wide of Grobbelaar and we have the most amazing finish maybe in the history of the football league."..............

The Gordon Strachan ones are good. I liked this one from Stuart Pearce:

"I can see the carrot at the end of the tunnel."

RE: Memorable sports quotes - Money_Shot - 12-02-2012 23:22

It is a sport related quote, but not by a sportsman...

It was the 2002 FA Cup Final , Chelsea VS Arsenal, Tim Lovejoy is commentating alongside Bradley Walsh, Ray Parlour goes through about 20 yards out, and Lovejoy declares

"Oh it's all right. It's only Ray Parlour"

That is before he smashes home a goal from distance, right in to the top corner to put Arsenal 1-0 up.

Kevin Keegan

"I would love it if we beat them"
