Camera man/producer available - amandasnumerounofan - 01-04-2010 00:27

How does one go about getting work in the sound side of the industry? Genuine question, that is why i'm asking someone who has worked in the industry.

Prayer, and lots of it.

It can't be THAT hard. Much of the camera work is very still, and the movements are easy to follow. You have to be quick to pan or tilt away if it's getting too hot for Ofcom, but other than that it's easy camera work really. Some of the camera people don't do such a great job though.

I think it's whether you know someone involved with these channels. Any half decent cameraman could do it.

I would imagine you'd have to be able to work one of the expensive cameras they have, all the settings like white balance and levels and all sorts of stuff like that and focus adjustments and the know how to rig it all up. I certainly wouldnt have thought it was a come in and point and shoot type deal, it's probably harder than it looks.

..... and keeping the camera steady when all that arse shaking is going on can't be easy either. Big Laugh

I assume it's voluntary work?? You can't expect to get paid to do this job, surely??

As shocking as it's sounds they do get paid for it, I know it's sounds hard to belive, because most of us would do it for free, i know i would. Big Grin
