Sidney Poitier has died at the age of 94.
He was a Bahamian-American actor who became the first Black man to win the Academy Award for Best Actor for the 1963 film "Lilies of the Field," has died.

Sad news. He had a fine role in In The Heat of the Night and two subsequent films as Virgil Tibbs. So many good films and an accomplished actor from the golden age of cinema.

Just saw that what a grand age abut sad we have lost a sir who probably paved the way for many fine young actors from other backgrounds

He was a director as well, he directed the classic comedy, stir crazy with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor.

Starred in a stone cold Brit classic (To Sir With Love). Hollywood legend too. Not many actors can claim both of those. Also a pioneer for many that came after.
Poitier of those actors who whenever they were onscreen they demanded your attention. Charisma and gravitas from a cool old school authority. RIP my man.
