Liz Truss will be announced at 12:30 today as the new leader of the Conservatives and therefore the UK's new Prime Minister.
Her stated policies so far are to bring down taxes so that the rich will pay less.

This is as good a place as any then to update in the comments made ehen Johnson was elected leader and therefore Prime Minister. At the time I said I would not vote conservative again until he was gone.
Well Liz welcome to the club! I will not vote conservative until she’s gone AND this breed of conservative MP’s have departed. The poison forced upon us by Johnson and his corrupt cronies now runs too deep for it to be simple fix.

Liz wins with the lowest vote total since the Tory party has had membership ballots, 57.4%, less than IDS
She didn't shake Rishi's hand when she won but did pay tribute in her speech. She paid tribute to Johnson and said he was admired from Kyiv to Carlisle which was followed by a long silence before applause.

Let's take bets.
I think she...
Will go after the sick and disabled as per Tory history in times of financial struggle.
Will continue to ignore the poorest and help the wealthy instead, on more than just the fuel crisis.
Won't stop the energy companies from fleecing us and instead will enable them to do it differently.
Will continue to piss off our European neighbours and cause us more problems with trade/relations.
Will continue to screw over business with their energy costs.
Will piss off Scotland and Wales and completely screw over Northern Ireland. (Obviously)
Will cause poverty to increase to record levels, but will change the definition as they have before.
Will cause a record number of deaths among the poorest and oldest due to inaction this winter.
Will possibly drag us into direct conflict with Russia, because distraction. Will spend more on defence than the fuel crisis.
I hope I am completely wrong, but the current breed of Tory politician would rather see the world burn than change their broken ideology.
So within the next week we will see exactly what kind of PM she will be, either for us all, or for the very wealthy few. Hmmm.

I never knew that she's an ex LibDem. I shouldn't be surprised though, they have a history of ditching their principles to get a taste of power.

She won the election with about the same majority as the population of Buxton.
But she needs some good speech writers.

It was a tumbleweed moment. It totally ignored all the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish supporters.
And she needs to improve her delivery. The audience didn't know when to applaud.
