Jerry Lee Lewis RIP - Censorship :-( - 28-10-2022 17:51 Jerry Lee Lewis, Rock Pioneer and ‘Great Balls of Fire’ Singer, Dies at 87 Jerry Lee Lewis RE: Jerry Lee Lewis RIP - Tumble_Drier - 28-10-2022 17:54 Dodgy fucker in too many ways. I'll not mourn his passing. RE: Jerry Lee Lewis RIP - SecretAgent - 28-10-2022 17:57 ^ Agreed - why would anyone celebrate a paedophile who married his 13 year old cousin RE: Jerry Lee Lewis RIP - Tumble_Drier - 28-10-2022 19:23 (28-10-2022 17:57 )SecretAgent Wrote: ^ Agreed - why would anyone celebrate a paedophile who married his 13 year old cousin Quite the charmer was Jerry Lee. Im 1976 he was arrested after getting drunk and smashing through the Gates at Graceland with a loaded gun in the car. Elvis had apparently asked to see him about something. Married 7 times... First wife - Divorced after 20 months. Second "wife". Marriage most likely invalid due to the wedding taking place before his divorce from his first wife was finalised. Third Wife (13 year old cousin) also took place before his latest divorce was finalised. A second wedding took place 6 months later so the dirty cunt married his 13/14 year old cousin twice. She divorced him 12 years later listing adultery, physical and mental abuse as the reasons. Fourth Wife - Marriage lasted 11 years, she drowned in a swimming pool. Fifth Wife. Marriage lasted 77 days until she died. Lewis has been accused of abusing her and possibly being responsible for her death. The allegations are unproven. Sixth Wife. Married for 21 years during which time he moved the family to Ireland to dodge tax issues back home. Moved back to the States after the tax issues were sorted by his promoter. Seventh Wife. Apparently a fan of keeping it in the family, Lewis married his former Sister-In-Law from the marriage to his 13 year old cousin. He then immediately cut his business ties with his Daughter, revoked her power of attorney and later sued her & her husband claiming that they owed him a large amount of money and had defamed him and his wife on Facebook. A Judge subsequently ruled that most of the claims (except the defamation ones) had run out of time under the statute of limitations. They'll need a Grave Stone as tall as the Empire State Building to fit that lot on. RE: Jerry Lee Lewis RIP - Doddle - 28-10-2022 20:45 Clearly only the good die young. RE: Jerry Lee Lewis RIP - Tractor boy - 28-10-2022 20:51 I thought he was already dead. RE: Jerry Lee Lewis RIP - Tommy826 - 29-10-2022 11:28 For God's sake have some respect for the dead. He was a brilliant entertainer. Not like the crap we have to put up with these days in the so called talent shows. RIP Jerry. RE: Jerry Lee Lewis RIP - The Silent Majority - 29-10-2022 13:39 ^ You a fan of Gary Glitter as well? RE: Jerry Lee Lewis RIP - Tommy826 - 29-10-2022 15:36 No I'm not a fan of Gary Glitter. Please don't insult me. But Jerry married his thirteen year old cousin in Louisiana which was legal at the time. That does not make him a paedophile. RE: Jerry Lee Lewis RIP - seducedx6 - 29-10-2022 19:27 If you don't separate the art from the artist, you won't have much culture left. Witness the way contemporary artists, in the broadest sense, including film directors, music artists, and actors, etc., are assessed according to a bureaucratic checklist of identity pigeonholing, and moral exhibitionism. Witness the 'cultural revolution' in Maoist China, which was really a 'revolution' against culture. Last November I did link the part of the 1990s BBC 'People's Century' series, about China, in this post about (Covid) conspiracism: https://www.babeshows.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=80274&pid=2633616#pid2633616 When this question is raised, my reference is usually to Caravaggio, one of the greatest painters ever, who was a murderer, but also Eric Gill, whose sculpture which is on the front of a BBC building, some have wanted removing, in the renewed crusade to exorcise history by destroying public art. Plus, Bobby Womack is one of my favourite soul singers, but his personal life was a veritable ancient Greek saga. James Brown's life was much worse still, and he treated his band members like slaves. Gary Glitter's music was influential, and remains so, however repugnant he is. Alongside Brown, Lewis is one of the most influential people in the history of recorded music. Apart from pious posturing, I'm not sure what is gained by dismissing his music, because of his life. |
