Solheim Cup 2023 - Boomerangutangangbang - 21-09-2023 21:29

Coverage starts on Sky from 06.30 tomorrow.

Excited about Europe's chances, a strong looking team, but USA have had 3 players with Major wins this year. Should be close.

I have never understood the relative lack of interest in this event compared to the overhyped 'ashes' of golf - Ryder Cup

^^ The way of the world, should never be the case, but still male dominated in all walks of life. Women's sport will never get equal billing, athletics comes the closest.

The physicality of a man v a woman in sport means they will generally be faster & stronger so men will always have a slight edge as a spectacle.

In golf other than hitting the ball further. men & women compare well, with it predominantly being a game of skill. For a sport to be watchable, regardless of the skill levels, a close contest is the key factor.

Personally, I've always enjoyed womens golf, at least since I started playing, as it's easier to relate to as an amateur, the distance the men hit the ball today is another planet to me.

USA shutout Europe in the morning Foursomes, a long way back from 4-0 down. The Fourball pairings will need some freshening up.

Europe bounce back in the afternoon fourballs, 2 wins and 2 tied matches and a 3-1 score, the lead is cut by half, 5-3 in favour of USA.

You answered your first point perfectly in your second Booms! all the more reason to question the popularity, and the disparity in both coverage, and prize money?? If the only differential that supposedly justifies the unbalanced nature of both prize money and exposure, is the beefcake smashing off the tee, then someone somewhere needs to have a word with themselves!

Saturday mornings fourball matches finished 2-2 with 2 wins each. After 3 sessions it's Europe 5-7 USA.

All tied at 8-8 going into the singles tomorrow. Fantastic fightbacks from Europe.

Yeah Europe have gradually clawed back the deficit with quite a few matches going to the last hole or last few holes.
Clutch putts galore.

Tenacious stuff indeed.

It's going to be an awful anti-climax for someone today.
