All the trailers have actually whetted my appetite for this one, looks promising.

I went to a 25th Anniversary Screening of The Phantom Menace earlier this month and afterwards was shown a preview of The Acolyte and my appetite was whetted by that as well as from the trailers. Will definitely be giving it a go

The show not been good at all huge disappointment

RE: Star Wars The Acolyte - skully - 05-07-2024 13:13

Yup, the bad definitely overshadows the good, for me the best thing about the show has been Qimir, the lack of story reveal is also annoyingly slow.
If the goal of the show was to piss most viewers off, then it's a huge success, visually it's been decent, one or two characters have been good, but that's about it.

RE: Star Wars The Acolyte - southsidestu - 05-07-2024 16:47

I've enjoyed how they have tried to freshen Star Wars up and take it in a different direction. Seeing the Jedi act as detectives in the earlier episodes & be more restrained in their use of lightsabers, which makes simce since they are meant to be peacekeepers yet most of the time we see them they are warriors.

The fight scenes have been really good, especially, of course, Qimir vs Jecki

I am concerned about how the story will pan out with only two episodes remaining it feels like there is not enough time to properly finish up. It feels like there is more to what happened when the twins were younger, we only saw what happened through Osha's eyes & it seems like they are setting up her being the Acolyte rather than her sister & i'm not sure two eps is enough to do a heel turn

RE: Star Wars The Acolyte - Skyline - 06-07-2024 13:13

^ I echo the words of southsidestu - I've also enjoyed this series so far and do totally agree that with two episodes remaining and most of the run times have been pretty short within each episode, then it leaves a lot left to be explained and played out.

I do love a really good lightsabre battle and the episode "Night" was pretty good with all of that but where the story goes from now with just two episodes left (unless they are considering doing a season 2 to this), then it kinda reminds me of the way the last season of Game Of Thrones was rushed....even though the were some largely awesome moments in that last season, it was not anywhere near up to scratch to how to end one of the best shows ever created imo. I'm not saying The Acolyte is on that par but it is largely good imo.

The Acolyte still has me intrigued, the story of the two sisters and the 'possible' darkness within Sol will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I'm quite a fan of this show so far and will keep watching it until it ends but so far Ahsoka has been my favourite Star Wars spin off series, so far....Smile

RE: Star Wars The Acolyte - Skyline - 21-07-2024 12:18

Well, it's now finished, it's season finale is over and I must admit I felt a little underwhelmed by how it finished - my favourite episode by far was "Night", and up to this point I was still very much into this and the different take on the Star Wars Universe that this had to offer - There was much to like within this series and I do hope Disney give it a chance and (boldly go where no man has gone before laugh Pardon the pun and back the creators and actors to atleast try to sort some of the many unanswered questions left hanging come the end of this season, by allowing a season 2).

A nice shot at the very end of the season finale of a cameo from a certain someone in the Star Wars Universe but overall I still quite enjoyed this, slow at times, but like Ahsoka, there were some good lightsabre battles but Ahsoka was better imo.

This is one thing a lot of people have very different views on, which is good for debate/discussion, if we all agreed it'd be boring. lol.

They need to fix a lot of things if they do get a season 2 imo. Don't get me wrong, I liked some things, particularly scenes with Qimir, in fact for me he was the best thing about the show. I disliked too many other things though, including choices made, pacing, writing, directing and some of the acting as well, for example, the main character needed to be more emotive (I think she was badly directed) and some of the other actors were just terrible, like the Yord actor, that guy can't act for shit, I mean what a truly shite character, I was happy when he was ended. lol. Another thing that I liked, the visuals, the fight scenes were a good watch, I really enjoyed Sol and Qimir's in the finale, but considering they had a budget of $180 million, they had no excuses to fuck the visuals up.

I enjoy Star Wars content, always have, even stuff that isn't well recieved is usually fine in my view, but my god did those in charge of this show make it hard to watch, nevermind enjoy. Changes need to be made for sure, or this show will not be saved by a season 2. The actors and viewers deserve better.

RE: Star Wars The Acolyte - Skyline - 20-08-2024 12:47

Slightly gutted about this one but The Acolyte has been cancelled, there will be no season 2. I thought it was good, except the ending was a bit weak and not that great but I was still hoping for a second run of this series.

Some of the lightsabre battles were good and overall I quite enjoyed it. Guess I'm easily pleased RolleyesBig Grin
