Metro Bank One-Day Cup - Boomerangutangangbang - 24-07-2024 11:46 Second tier cricket, but still a decent comp, an interesting mix of young & not so young players. Different counties with different agendas. Northants v Derbyshire Durham v Lancashire Essex v Warwickshire Worcestershire v Middlesex Leicestershire v Nottinghamshire RE: Metro Bank One-Day Cup - Snooks - 24-07-2024 16:15 Nice to see Worcestershire pile on runs in a convincing win over Middlesex at New Road. Ed Pollock (180) and Gareth Roderick (115) had an opening stand of 259 in a total of 371/3. Middlesex were then bowled out for 188. Nice work. RE: Metro Bank One-Day Cup - Boomerangutangangbang - 26-07-2024 05:53 Yorkshire got their campaign off the a winning start with a 25 run victory over Surrey at the Oval. Yorkshire were hard done by, losing the toss they had to endure a stop-start batting innings with 3 rain breaks, then the unfathomable DLS method only adjusted the target by 8 runs when the game was reduced to 33 overs. Both teams could only manage a disappointing 2 wins last time out. Despite injuries & unavailable players Surrey still fielded a more experienced side, Yorkshire looked the more vibrant side in the field despite a couple of dropped catches. RE: Metro Bank One-Day Cup - Snooks - 22-09-2024 13:07 The weather is threatening to wipe out play for today as well as the reserve day tomorrow ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: Metro Bank One-Day Cup - Boomerangutangangbang - 23-09-2024 10:11 ^^ Despite the terrible forecast today, they have made a prompt start at Trent Bridge. I fear it will be to no avail, as the radar suggests showers into the evening & heavy rain around 1-2pm. A match constitutes 20 overs per side minimum. What you don't want to see is 40 overs in the 1st innings & then no more play, this tends to happen as the umpires don't look at the bigger picture & try the get the longest possible game. They are in a tough position, if the expected rain misses & they have completed a 20 over per side game with hours left & bright sunshine there would be complaints. EDIT : My mistake I see that common-sense has prevailed & it seems that todays play has started as a minimum 20 over per side game. ![]() RE: Metro Bank One-Day Cup - Boomerangutangangbang - 23-09-2024 12:05 Glamorgan 186-7 constitutes a great effort after being asked to bat in what appears to be favourable bowling conditions. As England found out the other day Trent Bridge can be a difficult ground to defend on with some short boundaries, so this may still be an under par total. RE: Metro Bank One-Day Cup - Boomerangutangangbang - 23-09-2024 14:48 Somerset fell short as Glamorgan won by 16 runs. The rain arrived some after to vindicate the decision to shorten the game from the off. RE: Metro Bank One-Day Cup - Snooks - 23-09-2024 17:20 Must admit I'm pleased for Glamorgan. Nice to see someone different win a trophy. Good on em. They played an excellent tournament and deserved the win. RE: Metro Bank One-Day Cup - Boomerangutangangbang - 23-09-2024 17:42 I'd completely forgotten they'd won this in 2021. As it stands as a downgraded comp it's great for some of the smaller & less financially able counties who struggle to compete or sustain a challenge in a championship season were strength & depth of squad can be tested. Let's not forget that the One Day Cup is stripped of one third of the best white ball players who are involved in The Hundred. Today I got my first look at Archie Vaughan, not only does he look like his dad facially, he is tall with a similar build. His stance closely resembled his dads & a few shots were classic Michael Vaughan. RE: Metro Bank One-Day Cup - Snooks - 23-09-2024 19:06 I meant to say well done to the ground staff and umpires for getting the match on. It turned out to be an excellent decision to have a T20 game instead of 50 overs because the rain came soon after the finish. Every credit to everyone even if there was hardly anyone in the crowd. The final got a result and for that we should be grateful. |
