The departure of Mott sees Trescothick taking over on an interim basis, he is as yet unsure if he will apply for the vacant job, with Sangakkara thought to be a favourite despite not stating his intentions at this point. The apparent fast-tracking of Flintoff may have hit a snag for now as there have been rumours of not gelling with Buttler during his recent spell on England's coaching staff. If Buttler can prove to be the man to carry this team forward the Somerset link with Trescothick would seem to be an ideal fit. RE: England v Australia T20 & ODI Series - Boomerangutangangbang - 26-08-2024 19:33 Root misses out on both squads sighted as being rested, other players who are involve in the current Sri Lanka Test Series are set to miss the T20's due to the quick turnaround which has necessitated separate squads, 5 of the Test players feature in the ODI squad. Cox may be added to the T2o squad dependent on his non inclusion in the Tests. Although Hull is now in all 3 squads which might be an indication that he is unlikely to feature in the Tests & has been drafted in to find his feet in the England set-up. As many expected the Bears pair Bethell & Mousley have been called up. Mahmood returns after another spell of injuries, Cares is back after serving a suspension over betting breaches, & the uncapped paced bowler Turner features in both squads. RE: England v Australia T20 & ODI Series - Charlemagne - 12-09-2024 08:54 Who picked that England side. They were destined to fail before they began. They were at least two batsmen short, with Livingstone coming in at 4. Yes play him but just at 7. England stand in captain Phil Salt had more lives than a cat and still got out cheaply. The two new boys didn't add anything and why do they keep persisting with Sam Curran, an all rounder who not international standard with bat or ball (he conceeded 30 in one over). RE: England v Australia T20 & ODI Series - Boomerangutangangbang - 12-09-2024 19:33 ^^ I have to agree, to an extent. Sam Curran is in great form this year in both T20 & Hundred format. His batting is good enough in the top order, he just got taken down by Head who is a difficult batsman to keep quiet. The balance of the side was clearly wrong, Jamie Overton was a replacement for the injured Buttler, what a joke, he should only play if he is fit to bowl, which he isn't. Topley bowls one over, easy to find a place for 2 batters. Livingstone is lucy to be in the side, but had a good game, he needs to deliver more consistently. The problem of the fixture congestion has added to the selection problem, with Test players rested until the ODI's.
