LA Fires - Charlemagne - 14-01-2025 14:15 It's tragic to see the damage and loss of life that's occuring in LA. Help has come from all it's neighbours including Mexico who is sending firefighters to the area. But it's a shame that there are people who are behaving badly. 9 people have been arrested for looting. I've seen this tweet from Adult film star Elly Clutch ![]() RE: LA Fires - skully - 14-01-2025 15:53 Canada has also sent firefighters and planes to do water drops. Even Ukraine has said it can send firefighters to help if needed, that's how bad it is. As an outsider looking on, it's hard to understand the level of destruction they're showing, over 10,000 buildings destroyed, over 100,000 people impacted and, it isn't even their fire season. This is early. I remember watching videos from the same time last year and it being flooded in and around LA, but this winter it's been dry, then they have these seasonal winds come in and the whole place goes up in flames. It looks like a war zone, as if the place has been bombed, with entire neighbourhoods turned to ash, it's hard to comprehend really, but I guess that's the nature of fire stoked by storm winds, it spreads like wildfire. I do think some outlets should be ashamed of themselves, focusing on celebs who can afford to rebuild when so many others will find it almost impossible, with little or no insurance. RE: LA Fires - lovebabes56 - 14-01-2025 18:27 I have to say it is looking far worse than the riots there, all those years ago Atm in my thoughts I have a cousin living in the Thousand Oaks area which - I hope - isn't anywhere near the fire area- just hope she is safe. Do we know if any British fire fighters are going there? I think tbh honest the celebs themselves should donate any stuff from outlets they get to those who really need it, and Trump neeeds to see what Govenment help can be offered as a priority when he takes office RE: LA Fires - Tumble_Drier - 14-01-2025 18:30 The winds are expected to pick up again in the next few hours. So the fires will spread faster and the Fire Fighting Aircraft may well be grounded. RE: LA Fires - Tumble_Drier - 14-01-2025 18:42 RE: LA Fires - lovebabes56 - 14-01-2025 18:53 I imagine it wil be a long time before we find out the true cause of what started it RE: LA Fires - skully - 14-01-2025 19:07 (14-01-2025 18:27 )lovebabes56 Wrote: ... Hopefully she's okay, Thousand Oaks is under an ''extreme fire danger warning'' unfortunately. This'll be down to those winds picking up again. I feel for celebs like Billy Crystal, who had lived in his LA home since 1979, memories more than property have been lost there. That's a real shame for him. I would hope the haves would step up to help the have nots in this sort of situation, especially those that live in the place. As for Trump, well he and Musk have been spreading lies and pointing fingers as usual, which isn't helpful, but he'll need to support them, it's his job whether he likes it or not, he needs to stop trying to score points in tragedies and grow up. RE: LA Fires - lovebabes56 - 14-01-2025 19:26 Thanks Skully I will do my best to find out more where she is. The warning you told me doesn't sound great news tbh. I hope Trump does realise how serious it is and actually do something positive and practical. By Leaving those who have suffered so terrribly in this, to fend for themselves - would tell me where Trump's head is at. He should surely know as you say, it's going to be his job whether he likes it or not and if he does nothing - I hope he gets all the shit he deserves for it. |
