Wimbledon 2025 - Doddle - 27-06-2025 21:20

Loads of Brits will be in Round 1, and some of them should make it to Round 2 Cool But probably not Round 7.

Many of the Brits have got very tough draws either in the first round or a little further down the track. The main British hope is Jack Draper but his overall draw looks horrible.

Sonay Kartal beat former Grand Slam champion Jelena Ostapenko in a decider after what cliche fans would describe as a "see-saw" match.

Sounds like Oliver Tarvet has won through to Round 2 as well.

^ A good result as Ostapenko was the 20th seed.

Arthur Fery is currently putting up a good show against 20th seed Australian Alexei Popyrin.
He's leading 2 sets to one. No break yet in the 4th set.

How Is Emma getting on?

Katie Boulter has produced an excellent win over number nine seed Paula Badosa 6-2 3-6 6-4.
Steeled herself really well after losing the second set. A fine effort indeed.
Well done Katie.

Quite a good day for Brits in the first round, let's hope it continues today

A Tennis Trivia question for you: Yesterday Carlos Alcaraz very nearly became only the third Men's defending champion to lose in the first round at Wimbledon .Who are the only two men to have lost in the first round?

Mind you Carlos is now on a 19game winning streak but I'm wondering how much that four and half hour match in 32c heat will take it's toll on him and the Italian opponent did really well, asking plenty of question of Carlos considering it eas his last Wimbledon at 38.

Its been a good round 1 for unseeded players beating seeded players. Rinderknech & Mpetshi Perricard have the opportunity to improve on that at some point today plus Fognini giving Alcaraz more of a match than he would have expected

Not only that I believe Alcaraz also joined in with the standing ovation the crowd gave Fognini after the match was over.
